There is a saying out there that goes, “The journey of 1000 miles begins with the first step”.
Each day is a new step to the thousandth mile. You will trip, fall, tumble, and get shed a tear or two. But you cannot begin the journey without taking that first step.
My journey started back in 2019 when my wife and I found out we were pregnant. I went to the local church and prayed for patience and fortitude. That was how I began my first steps. Along the way I have stumbled and faltered but I go back to that moment and look at how far I have came. At the end of 2021 with the upcoming birth of my second child I started listening to podcasts.
I listened to a Real Business Owner’s podcast about taking risks. Now, I am not talking about jumping out of airplanes with out parachutes but rather how can I put myself out there a little more. How can meet more people and get a better job? How can I make more money? How can be more bold and less timid? That podcast was another step toward where I want to go.
That podcast lead me to find Rob Dial and The Mindset Mentor. Rob Dial is a great resource to getting to where you want to go. He challenges me to push further and try to do more. From this podcast he wrote a book and at the end of each chapter there are journal prompts. They are great resource to find out the path you need to take on that journey of 1000 miles.
From Rob Dial, I found Court Storring and the Dad.Work podcast. Curt has really opened my eyes to what it means to be a father. He has taught me how to be a great father and to leave a legacy for my kids. From letters, to journals, to being present with them, he has helped me to learn and be a better father for my kids.
As you can see, I have undergone a journey and that began with an idea – the idea of taking risks and I am now creating this blog. I do not know where the rest of my journey will take me but this is only the beginning.
