Do you ever wake up on a Saturday to go fishing or to play golf? You’ll get up at 4:30a or 5a to go do something you enjoy but getting up on Monday morning for work is a drag?
Trust me, me too.
I’ve been there all too long. I used to play golf on Sunday mornings getting the earliest tee time they had available. We’d head off that dewy, wet, grass and play 9 holes. Shanking a ball into the woods never felt so good.
But then on Monday, I’d smash that snooze button. Every 9 minutes for an hour. I’d lay in that warm comfy bed dreading the commute in the morning.
Until one day, I stopped. I started living with purpose.
Work still sucks. It’s work. But my mornings changed. My outlook on life changed.
No, I didn’t have a near death experience or had a vision. I just started living with purpose.
I spent too many years not caring. Just getting by. Money came in, money came out. I’d drink a beer or two, or six, on any given Tuesday just because life was bland.
When I started to wake up with a purpose it all changed. I get up between 6a and 6:15a each day. On Saturday and Sunday’s I typically fill my morning with a run or jog to get moving. I work out at least two other times during the week.
I get up not only for myself, but for my family. When I get up early, I get to cook breakfast for everyone. I get to fulfill that part of me. I always hated getting up at 8a because I always felt my day would be shot.
Now, getting up is something I look forward to, even if I am a bit groggy. You have to “love your job” or “find your passion” to get up each morning, but you need to be purposeful in your life. You need to have sense of direction or goals to achieve.
That’s when you will find success in both your professional or personal lives.
