Life’s tough, Get a helmet

Life gets tough. Sometimes it just plain sucks. Pipe breaks. Car won’t start. Kids are being wild. Sometimes it seems life is coming apart. The sky could be falling on top of you.

It’s how you overcome these minor blips that seem like mountains.

We play the what-if game all too much an send ourselves into an anxiety panic.

Take this for example:

“The car won’t start. Oh no. What if I’m late? What if I get fired because I’m late? What if this costs $1,000 to fix? What if….”

We send ourselves into a tailspin. We give ourselves artificial anxiety just thinking about it.

What if you just called your boss and said, “My car won’t start. I’ll be in when I can.” And they say, “Ok. We look forward to you getting here safe.”

Doesn’t that give you a piece of mind just reading it? But instead we play this obnoxious game of What-if.

That doesn’t mean you’re not going to have trouble getting a new battery, or a tow, or a jump from a neighbor, friend, or relative. It doesn’t mean you’re going to have unexpected expenditures.

When we go through life expecting nothing but the worse case scenario we get all wound up.

Life is tough. You’ll need a helmet some days to get through it. Being prepared and having a positive outlook will only help you when you need it the most.

Building a strong frame of mind and positivity goes against our lizard brains when we want to stay in a cave away from harm. By being strong and willing to take on obstacles and hardship will only give you solace when you need it the most.
