We all need to expand our knowledge in order to be better. I’m not talking about going to college to get a second degree or a higher degree, unless you want to. But I’m just saying if we stay exactly where we are, and stagnate, we are not living to our fullest ability.
To expand our knowledge we can do a few things:
- Read
- Hang out with other people
- Coach/Mentor
- Attend a seminar
- Take professional development
- Do something that we suck at, to get better
- etc
I’ve listed a bunch of things we can do to expand our knowledge a little at a time. We’re not going to be geniuses overnight but we can do a little bit each day to get better.
I wanted to be a better digital marketer. I wanted to learn to be the best at this craft/trade. I want to dig into a website and learn to make it better. So I did something different.
I started freelancing.
This isn’t a groundbreaking event in my life. I make a little extra income, in the free time that I have, and I started learning how to analyze a website at what is working and not working.
By no means am I the best at digital marketing but I’m working on it. I want to help business owners with their site and their business to help them be successful.
I want to see the areas around me thrive. I want commerce to exceed expectations in my local area. I have big dreams. I don’t know if I’ll get there or not, but it would be cool.
I’m expanding my knowledge by reading, learning, and finding my way through it. Some days are tougher than others while some days are a cake walk. By learning and honing this craft, I can get better each day.
What can you do to expand your knowledge in areas of your life? What do you feel is a struggle that you could improve on?
We don’t need to expand in every area at once, just a little in one specific area.
