Every night after I read my book, I read my Core Values and I Am Statements.
My core values are my lens that filter decisions and actions through.
- Responsibility
- Effort
- Aspirations
- Persistence
My I Am Statements are the embodiment of those core values.
- I am a hard worker to provide for myself and my family
- I am someone who says what they are going to do so people can depend on me
- I am the best version of myself each day and plan to be 1% better
- I am an effective communicator to work through problems in work and life
- I am a leader so that I can take on new challenges and work with others to achieve common goals
- I am committed to make the world a better place than I found it
- I am an avid reader so my kids will know the power of learning.
- I am always active to show my kids a healthy life style
- I am a joyful person so my wife and my kids can live in a fun environment
My I Am Statements are not 100% where I am right now. They are the driving factor on where I am going.
By reading these at night I can look at my day and see where I falter or succeeded.
When I started these almost 6 months ago, I wasn’t nearly where I wanted to be in them. I knew these statements would be a stretch. I am making daily strides to get there.
I suggest creating Core Values and ‘I Am’ Statements to help guide you on your journey. As I mentioned in my last post, Effort requires zero talent. Make these little improvements and put in a little effort, and you can become great. You may not be a household name, but you can still find happiness and success in your life.
You’ll find what you are seeking. Your mission, purpose, and path will be clear.
